Payment from the Playoff!! PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 23 July 2008

Despite the nice (albeit hot) weather on Saturday, a great group of folks showed up for the Play for the Payoff Fundraiser. First and foremost we have to extend our most gracious thanks to Andrew and Luis of the Triangle Rock Club for their generosity in allowing us use of their incredible facilities for the event. If you live in the Triangle and have not been, you are missing out on a killer facility!

All who attended were generous with their donations. . .

registrations ect. All were repaid with an extraordinary amount of great swag and a wonderful time. Out of the 51 register for the event, 33 folks participated in the rope and bouldering competition. Climb Fit instructor, Jessa Goebel gave an awesome clinic on climbing movement and Arno treated us to a clinic on the Warriors Way of mental fitness. After the competitions, spectators, competitors and anyone standing around were treated to a huge amount of swag from the door prizes, gear raffle, silent auctions and swap meet. After the excitement died down a little, the food and beer were brought out to satiate folks. Shortly after we were treated to a slideshow detailing the epic process of putting up the first ascent of Defective Sonar by Arno Ilgner. As if the slideshow and ensuing discussion weren’t enough, those who could handle it were treated to a premier of Dosage volume 5.
The event helped to raise $5529.00 for the CCC. These funds will go directly towards the loan repayment for Laurel Knob. Once again a big thanks goes out to Andrew, Luis and the staff at the Triangle Rock Club for their incredible generosity and use of their awesome facilities for this event and to the incredible generosity of the Triple Crown Bouldering Competition and the Southeastern Climbers Coalition for their generous donations to help kick-off the event. . A great big thank you goes out to Scott, Stephanie, Karen, Andrew, Luis, Arno, Jessa and Brian Payst for helping to put this event together and make it run smoothly.
We were overwhelmed by the generosity of our sponsors. The following companies made significant contributions to the event, which helped to make it a wonderful success:
