The Boone Climbers Coalition (BCC) and the CCC have been working with the National Park Service to negotiate placement of two additional anchor stations and a kiosk at Shiprock. We are pleased to be able to announce the negotiations were successful and the new stations have been placed. Here is a message from Park Ranger Eddy Cartaya:

It only took a year and a half of head crashing but its finally done.  Chris Ulrey and I installed the two new rap anchors at Ship Rock today. . .

Call for photos for 2009 CCC Calendar
Thursday, 01 May 2008

A volunteer group of CCC members is taking on the NEW CCC Calendar 2009.

Some of you may remember the stunning calendar put out a few years ago. The years since then have not really been worthy of another endeavor but 2009 is!

The CCC Calendar '09 will be a collection of pictures from around the Carolinas featuring bouldering, sport, trad, ice and aid (do people still do that?). The theme of the calendar will be First Ascents (Old School, New School, Middle School, and PFA's (Personal First Ascents)).

We request that photos be previously unpublished (webbased or otherwise) and that they include a variety of subjects in a variety of mediums. We would particularly like some shots featuring CCC success stories like Laurel Knob and "Asheburl."

So get yer cameras out if you haven't yet. Dig through your old photos. Hire that pro photog to capture your winning moment on your PFA. And keep yer eyes peeled for more info coming soon!

CCC Calendar Team!

On behalf of the CCC, a special thank you goes to the following people and their organizations for going above and beyond the original requests that were made to them for help in terms of time, money and effort and in doing so have ensured the successful purchase and opening to the general public of Laurel Knob.
