The Southeast face is now closed (open from Sept 1 thru Dec 31). This short season is unfortunate and denies access to arguably the best piece of granite in its prime season. The CCC has initiated dialog with the SC State Parks to see about altering the closure dates in the future so that the window of opportunity is a bit longer. We will keep you posted on the progress but don't expect anything to change too fast. To help out - make your voice heard. Contact the park office at Table Rock office (info below) and make sure that they know that climbers are a viable and responsible user group that deserves access to the crag. Table Rock State Park Park Superintendant: Poll Knowland ( This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it ) Home to maybe as many as 20 routes on the Southeast face, Table Rock is one of the more incredible granite walls in the Carolinas. At about 450 feet tall, this face offers everything from watergrooves to steep face to cracks. That being said, there are no easy and few "well" protected routes on the face. Couple the longest approach in the Carolinas with a generous dose of adventure climbing on very clean and highly featured granite and you'll see that Table Rock is a place not to be missed for the 5.10 and up climber. |
