REI Grants, American Alpine Club Grant

For the second time, the CCC is the recipient of grants from REI. We're deeply thankful for the support and for REI's continued work to promote responsible and sustainable recreation. We received 3 different grants this year for a total of $27,000!

Sauratown Trail - $17,000 (from REI)

This money will be used to contract the services of a professional trail buiilding company who will make significant improvements in the trail up to the cliff. The emphasis will be on creating a sustainable trail and reducing the overall grade of the trail. This grant funds the first part of the work.

Big Rock Parking - $5,000 (from REI)

Naturalands Trust is in the final stages of planning for the new parking lot at Big Rock and this grant, along with some additional funds from the CCC, will help to speed up the process and offset some of the costs. The new lot will be located at the top of the cliff and will provide improved access to Big Rock and the surrounding area.

Chimney Rock State Park Trails - $5,000 (from REI), $5000 (from the American Alpine Club Conservation Grant)

This investment will partially fund a new trail system that will provide future trail access to the Eagle Rock area. located on the north end of the north side of Rumbling Bald Mountain.
