Laura Boggess

At Large

Laura is a biologist and climber, born and raised in western North Carolina. She teaches biology and environmental science at Mars Hill University, outside of Asheville. She attended graduate school at Appalachian State University, studying the ecology of cliffs in the Big South Fork (TN) and hopes to put those skills to work for the CCC. Helping scientists, land managers and climbers communicate almost invariably opens crags. She loves all forms of climbing and can be found flying off boulders, clipping bolts, or placing gear. She's also a yoga instructor who likes to evangelize about how yoga and climbing complement each other so well. (Look for a Yoga for Climbers class at Climbmax in the spring!)
