CCC Hires Executive Director

After 24 years as a volunteer-run non-profit, the work of the CCC and the opportunities to enhance climbing across the Carolinas led the board to decide that a full-time position was the best way to accomplish our goals. Thanks to generous donations from Trango e-Grips and the VF Foundation, we were able to fund the start of this new phase of the organization’s growth. After a search process, the Carolina Climbers Coalition is very pleased to announce the hiring of Mike Reardon as the organization’s first Executive Director.

Mike ReardonMike is well known to the Carolina climbing community and has served as one of the Southern Mountain representatives for several years. In that role, Mike developed partnerships that led to the opening of two climbing areas in Hickory Nut Gorge, achieved grant funding to steward several of our crags and boulderfields, and worked with the Forest Service to reduce the scope of the seasonal Peregrine Falcon closure at Cedar Rock and Victory Wall.

"Mike was the most qualified of all the applicants for the position and we are thrilled he is able to take on this new role and immediately get to work on access and advocacy for climbers in the Carolinas”, said Tom Caldwell, President of the CCC.

Mike will start in this new role on February 1st, 2019 and will work with the board on priorities and projects. Mike will be based out of a home office in Asheville. Please join us in welcoming Mike!
