CCC Board Position: Community Engagement Coordinator
The Carolina Climbers Coalition is seeking a Community Engagement Coordinator to join our volunteer Board of Directors, with the position beginning in June 2026.
Role Overview
This at-large board position is focused on helping the CCC build a stronger, more diverse and inclusive climbing community across the Carolinas. This role will guide and support organization-wide community engagement efforts, working collaboratively with staff, board members, volunteers, and community partners.
Core Responsibilities
Assess & Strengthen Community Engagement Practices
- Evaluate the CCC’s programs, policies, and culture through a community-focused lens
- Identify opportunities for growth and help set actionable goals
- Support the Marketing and Events director with the implementation and growth of the Mosaic program
Foster Learning & Culture
- Identify and support community engagement trainings or learning opportunities for board and staff
- Encourage open dialogue and contribute to a culture of accountability and growth
Advance Inclusive Engagement
- Support inclusive board recruitment, volunteer engagement, and program access
- Build relationships with affinity groups and identify partnership opportunities
Support Storytelling & Communications
- Help ensure the CCC’s programs and messaging reflect diverse voices and experiences
General Board Responsibilities
- Attend quarterly board meetings and participate in regular meetings for community engagement initiatives
- Check CCC email at least 2x per week, sometimes more.
- Be physically present for at least one meeting per year
- Support at least one public CCC event annually
- Support area reps and CCC initiatives as needed
- Support and/ or spearhead fundraising initiatives related to the CCC’s mission
- Vote on board decisions and contribute to organizational direction
- Represent the CCC in a manner aligned with its values and mission
Ideal Candidate
We’re looking for someone who:
- Is passionate about climbing access, stewardship, and community-building
- Has experience, interest, or lived perspective related to community engagement
- Has strong communication and collaboration skills
- Has a strong background knowledge of climbing areas CCC serves
- Believes in the CCC’s mission and wants to support that mission
- Is motivated to help CCC grow in a thoughtful, inclusive way
- Brings the stoke for building a more connected climbing community
